Kiyosu Bridge
-
An elegant bridge modeled after the suspension bridge over the Rhine.
-
The Kiyosu Bridge, along with the Eitai Bridge, was part of the restoration project from the Great Kanto earthquake, and designated as a cultural asset of national importance. It is modeled after the suspension bridge over the Rhine located in Cologne, Germany. Compared to the masculine Eitai Bridge, the graceful and elegant Kiyosu Bridge is said to be more feminine. The name Kiyosu came from the fact that the bridge was connecting Nihonbashi-ku Nakasucho and Fukagawa-ku Kiyosucho that were on the banks of the river when the bridge was built.
