[The classics and modernity] A dye shop persisting at Tokyo Nihonbashi
-
At Nihonbashi-Hamacho as an artisan town since the Edo period, the skills of dyers have been handed down, and we continue to be involved in the dying process and product creation. Edo artisans engage in product design but also insist on infusing designs with style and meaning. There are traditional products such as hantens (short winter coats), norens (doorway curtains), hand towels, and pouches, as well as modern everyday necessities such as T-shirts and tote bags.
